The Profarma Group is the most diversified player in Brazil’s healthcare sector and operates in the Distribution, Specialties and Retail segments to satisfy the needs of all stakeholder groups: shareholders, pharmaceutical companies, drugstores, hospitals and consumers.
It started operations in 1961 as Profarma Distribuidora de Produtos Farmacêuticos S.A.
In 2013, it entered the retail segment by acquiring the Drogasmil, Farmalife and Drogarias Tamoio brands. In 2016, it acquired the Rosário Chain, leading retailer in Brazil’s Midwest region.
In 2014, it consolidated its Specialties Unit by forming the joint venture Profarma Specialty with AmerisourceBergen Corporation.
It is currently the 151th biggest and best company in Brazil, according to the 2017 ranking compiled by Exame magazine.
